Jingle Bombs

You have to head over to Michael Yon’s blog at https://www.michaelyon-online.com/jingle-bombs-jingle-bombs.htm
and see his latest entry with pics of Jingle Trucks trying to cross from Pakistan to Afghanistan with a lot of smuggled industrial grade explosive called Emulite. K-9 working dogs are truly worth their weight in gold.

I can hear it now

From the liberal left, the Daily Kos, Huffington Post, etc. “Obama’s Vietnam”, “Quagmire”, etc. etc.

http://www.military.com/news/article/10k-more-gis-may-be-afghanistanbound.html

They military-hating, unpatriotic, liberal left is going to jump all over the President on this one.

Is this a good thing? Who knows? It all depends if they are given clear guidance and a mission, along with an infrastructure and supply system that has to be ready to support such an influx. If they are sent in, they need to be sent in to Win. As my buddy Uncle Jimbo says “wars are won or lost”. These guys need to be given clear guidance, not have their hands tied and allowed to execute the mission just like the 24th MEU was last year.

I can tell you that is this is being leaked out already, that there are lots of people already working on this buy getting supplies in country, outposts built, extra rations ordered, etc. This type of thing is not decided on and acted on overnight.

One quote in this article really stands out, But Flournoy said the U.S. mission in Afghanistan will be complete when “the Afghans and Pakistanis have both the capability and the will to deal with the remaining threat themselves.”

Why is that interesting? Go to the links below and see where this blog stated the same thing back on March 21st and 13th respectively.

The April 2nd You Served Radio Show

Tonight is going to be a great show on the You Served Radio Show and Podcast. We've got Matt Williams, President and Founder of Mouth Watering Media and Jamsbio.com. JamsBio.com is hosting dozens of touching memories and dedications to soldiers, from servicemen and women and their loved ones about service, sacrifice, life on the frontlines and home front. They have partnered with the band Queensrÿche to "Honor the American Soldier".

Speaking of Queensrÿche, we'll also have an interview with lead singer of the band, Geoff Tate, who recently released the already top 10 CD, "American Soldier" CD on Tuesday. If you haven't heard the CD yet or read CJ’s review, you should hang your head in shame and be prepared to come to the show with an apologetic attitude promising to redeem yourself immediately! American Soldier features voices from actual soldiers interviewed by lead singer Geoff Tate.
See ya tonight, from 7-9pm EST at www.blogtalkradio.com/youserved!!

Hot News- CNN is not your friend

Here is some hot news from the ground in Afghanistan….Apparently CNN now has setup a bureau in Kabul. This is probably the first time since 2002 I am sure.

Anyway, the word on the (dirt) street is that CNN does not care to cover any Humanitarian Assistance stories. All they want is direct action (kinetic) operation stories.

So I guess now that there is no more real bad news in Iraq, they have decided to go back to Afghanistan and only want to focus on the bad, bloody things there too. Who cares about girls being able to go to school, or children being fed, or farmers being able to grow something besides poppies and provide for their family? Not when there is blood and gore to be splashed across America’s 42″ flat screen plasma TVs every night.

This is why I refuse and always will refuse to watch that the Crappy News Network.

The Argghhh!! has some ANA Commando Pics

The very popular milblog, Argghhh!!! has some recent pics of Afghan Army Commandos in a firefight from yesterday out in the Herat (western) region.

http://www.thedonovan.com/archives/2009/04/ana_commandos_e.html

Nice to see that the ANA have up-armored 1114s with two crew-serve weapons and a x-wing antenna. What I would have done to get my American team a back up crew-serve just two short years ago. Much less every truck having its own X-wing tac-sat antenna.

Don’t get me wrong, I am glad they are getting some decent equipment. I just hope there is not one, single US ETT or PMT team in country right now that is without these great combat multipliers.

Possible Unit extensions in Afghanistan

This could be rumor control as I have not been able to verify yet, but I am getting word that some active duty units may be getting extended in Afghanistan for several months. I am waiting to hear a verification, but so far the intel seems valid.

Stay tuned for more info on this one way or another

Baby MRAP on the way

More important that the story itself to me is the first sentence. “Ask any soldier who’s been to both countries: Afghanistan is not Iraq.”

Hmmm, I wonder where I have heard that before?
